 Getting a boat inspected.
When you get a custom hull assigned a HIN, how hard is it to get it to pass certification?
I have heard stories of the wardens up here in North La. not passing square chine slick bottom boats, is there a way to fight this if it fails?

 Re: Getting a boat inspected.
Can't say about LA but Texas was nothing. Worse part was getting the reg on the motor since it was bought n LA. They didn't say anything about my boat. Didn't have lights or anything. Had a locking hatch under the front and from what I was told u can't have that???? But the head green pants didn't say a word.

 Re: Getting a boat inspected.
The inspection is more to ensure that the boat is not stolen (not a production boat that someone ground the numebers off of), and that it is seaworthy. It has nothing to do if the bottom is slick or not.
Bout the only way you can fail the inspection is to not have the proper paperwork. So when you call to set up the inspection be sure to ask what all you will need, but it should be listed on the paper you get back from Baton Rouge when you apply for the title/registration.

 Re: Getting a boat inspected.
Well thats what happens when you tell me that it takes 6-8 weeks to for the process and i will only be legal for 30 days. Her answer was you have to park your boat. MY reply i will not park my boat because you failed to meet the deadlines put forth by the state you dumb betch. sir i am gonna have to ask you to leave.
time 2 Well since prior story happened i called prior to going in and waited 45 minutes to get threw finally did asked what doucuments i need and how much i need to write a check for. they told me, i downloaded them off the internet, filled them out, and and got it notarized. i used to live about 10 minutes away from them so one day i went and dropped them off. They forgot to tell me about one and it was one that had to be notarized. then she gave me and attitude and told me that it was my fault. i was like no the lady on the phone told me this is all i needed. She replied to me this is our job and we are good at it so you are wrong sir. Thats when my button got pushed. MY reply was yeah you are so good it takes you 6-8 weeks to do something i am required to do in 30 days. this plexi glass is strong cause i am about to come threw it. Sir we are gonna have to ask you to leave.
So i then mailed it off this was early july and i still do not have registered boat. i have called twice and no progress has been made.

 Re: Getting a boat inspected.
I showed up, they gave me the papers, I filled them out and went get them notorized, I returned with copleted paperwork and payment, all while being extremely nice to them. Two days later a gw was at my house to inspect and stamp, showed him the material receipts and it was done.
Maybe they just don't like you.

 Re: Getting a boat inspected.
Yes QC i think so. I never gave them an attitude until they showed me one. They don't know my name so i know they are not holding mine. I have not got any returned mail or a phone call nor has the check been cashed

 Re: Getting a boat inspected.
in texas they gave mine a quick look and put my hin sticker on it. filled out the paperwork and showed my bill of materials. cost 105 for registration, title and all. was very easy and took about 10 minutes.

 Re: Getting a boat inspected.
I live in Ruston and built a couple hybrids a few years ago. Inspection was a piece of cake, didn't really inspect much of anything. Actually didn't even look at receipts, just asked if I had them. Stamped the tags and went on his way.
