Re: GTR Lower Unit Rear Seal
Yeah you need to get that screw out and get a new one for it, always remove screw to put more grease in or you'll blow a seal everytime.....Rear seal is very easy to change

 GTR Lower Unit Rear Seal
You do know that you have a backerd seal for that reason!! Instead of popping seals with grease cause people dont pull the screw out they designed it that way!! Get that stripped out screw out and you should be fine!! if it not leaking grease leave it alone !!

Re: GTR Lower Unit Rear Seal
I wouldn't have thought the bottom seal was trashed after pushing grease out. I fill my PD lower shaft wif grease until it squeezes out of the seal, per KP. I would think GTR used the same type seals on their lower to make them idiot proof, kinda.

Re: GTR Lower Unit Rear Seal
What tore the seal up is some wire I got wrapped up in the prop not from over pumping grease. I will be changing the seals as soon as I get in from work. Thanks for all ya'lls input.

Re: GTR Lower Unit Rear Seal
i agree. pull the screw when pumping grease in. otherwise you WILL blow the seals out.
