 2007 prodrive.
Ok, I know this has been discribed before, but I need to ask the question. Does the 2007 36hp prodrive have a leaky lower unit. My lower unit has water in it again. I had the lower seal replaced 2 years ago and I make sure that I clean the prop out so it doesn't wrap too tight. Although I do go through a lot of grass & wild rice. I really only run it during the hunting season and change the lower unit & motor oil before the season begins. Well, I was disappointed to see water was in it again. Doe anyone know if this was the leaky years if so what is the fix and cost. I'm confident to do the work myself, although I had the seal replaced by a prodrive dealer last time. Thanks for the info
One more thing. I'm thinking that I need to replace the sleeves on the tower housing. Is it common for those to go out after 70 hours.
Thanks

 Re: 2007 prodrive.
I'd look into upgrading to the new lower unit.

 Re: 2007 prodrive.
Why did these older lower units leak? There was a statement that they switched from 4 to 6 mounting bolts. Where was he referenceing to?

 Re: 2007 prodrive.
The older lower units had leak issues at the prop due to the long prop shaft having a tendency to flex a good bit and cause seal issues. That's wut KP told me. The new units have a grease filled prop shaft housing that u pump grease into until it squeezes out the seals to be sure there is no water in there.

 Re: 2007 prodrive.
If you have an 07 it is the older LU. It was upgraded in 08 to a stouter model with the upper greased seal/bearing and then again in 10 to add the lower greased shaft/bearing. If you can see that protruding piece of the LU right in the bend on the LU. That indicates an upgraded 08 or later LU.

 Re: 2007 prodrive.
Thanks for the info. So what is the general cost to upgrade lower units? Is it better to sell and buy a whole new unit? I have 70 hours on my 07. I really only use it for duck season. I wouldn't know what the value of my current motor is, but I'm assuming buying a new lower unit is the way to go. How hard is it to change the lower unit? I wanted to replace the tower housing sleeves anyway!
Thanks,
