 Best prop for a 35GTR
In 50 hours, I have worn my prop to 11 1/8 " tip to tip, and mid blade measures 3 1/2" across. The search yields a lot of mixed and old information from '09, just wanted some updated opinions from people who have a few years experience.
A lot of sand and sand/mud bottoms, hauling a 3 man load w/ up to 90 decoys and a pop up blind during winter, ice and rough chop sometimes. A lot of mudding as well, and occassionally a light fishing load.
Which props have you guys had, and how did they measure up to the stock GTR prop? I'd like to get more time out of them than 50 hours, but probably need load carrying/mud capability to be my highest priority.

Don't matter what prop you run you dig in sand it gonna ware!! Do like I do when I get in a sandy bottom I walk the boat instead of burning a prop!! If they were designed to run sand they would be called a sand motor not a mudmotor!!

No the stock prop is the fastest one, Hauls the better loads, Some will say the MB wheel will last longer cause its thicker, But it is slower aswell.

Re: Best prop for a 35GTR
I remember some boys messing with the hopkins cleaver awhile back, the mudbuster props from hopkins are friggin 450 bucks. I know Ron Hill makes a 12x10 prop as well, but I've seen mixed reviews on them, people say they have consistency issues and sometimes are shotty work.

 Best prop for a 35GTR
As long as you run sand they all will do the same!! You will ware faster with more load in your boat!! Why cause you draw more water and most of the time not have enough power to run the boat swallower!!

The Hopkins props aren't 450. That may be what's listed on the site but they are not that much. I think they are 250-280. You would have to call him and talk to him. They are still higher than the others but the one I had Blaze has now and it's held up well.

Re: Best prop for a 35GTR
It was on a modded motor. A stock motor wouldn't swing the prop I was running. It dropped the rpm's down on the motor, better top end, bad ass in veggies but bad hole shot with a load.

Re: Best prop for a 35GTR
I played with the GTR 12" prop I started with 2 stock props. Gave one to Baumann for them to take measurements off of. I gave them 3 worn out props & they added back in material & rebalanced etc. We tried thickening up the leading edge of the blade & trailing edge in places to provide longer life ended up not working. So I have them repair props when needed and they put them back to stock I have good success.

Re: Best prop for a 35GTR
Reworkign the prop is almost useless cause the filler is usually SOFTER than the prop itself... so it will wear twice as fast IMO.
