 Uncle-J Boats
New to the forum and mud boats. I've been emailing Uncle-J about building a boat. Got it narrowed down to an 1854 or 1954 with hunt deck, driver pod, gun box, and extended front deck. Any suggestions from Uncle-J owners? Also post pics/speeds of your Uncle-J boat if you have them.
Thanks

 Uncle-J Boats
I would go 18 54. I hunt marsh though where width is not an issue with trees. I have an 18 48 and it a good all around size. I personally like open floor plan. In shallow water by myself, ice chest, 2 batteries I will run 28-29 with a stock 36 pd. What motor are you planing to get

 Re: Uncle-J Boats
My buddy owed me some money and gave me a GT35 but the motor is shelled on it. I'm about to put another motor on it, but don't plan on leaving it stock. Probably heads, carb, and exhaust one at a time.

Thanks smoke! That's a good looking rig. I'm planning on buying bare hull and doing the rest myself.

 Re: Uncle-J Boats
I build those boats. You can search my post and look at some pics also. It may not say "uncle J" some just say "another boat" or something, but it will still have pics of boats. Whatever you want, the sky is the limit.

 Re: Uncle-J Boats
yeah Smoke, that is an awsome boat. J and his crew are working on my one, i sent pics of your boats floor to J so he could do mine the same. I like the open floor plan, maybe i will have some pics to post in 2 weeks or so. hopefully it will be ready by then

Good looking boats. It looks like you guys make a good product! I don't necessarily need a mud boat, but the more I read here, the more I want one.

We don't just build mudboats. We've built bass boats and bay boats as well.

 Re: Uncle-J Boats
My Uncle-J boat is a little smaller than what you are looking at, I have a 17.5x48 and I get around 28 with a MB 35hp. I think I have a little more aluminum inside than what you are planning. Mine has a split bench seat because I have it set up for fishing more than hunting.

Mine's 1848 with round chines & "Sport Deck" Completely open floor, I added a 7' gun/rod box & sit on an Igloo cooler full of cold ones.

 Re: Uncle-J Boats
difference of opinion i guess, I wouldn't call the one you posted a bay boat. I'd call it a flat boat. the one I posted was nice, but didn't fit my needs. jimmy is turning out a serious 27 foot bayboat right now.

Bay boats usually end around the 23' range with. 8' beam.
