 Milky Lower Unit Pro Drive
I recently bought a used Pro Drive and the Lower unit is milky. I replaced it and ran it agian. It is milky again. Obviously, the first option is to replace the seal in front of the prop. My question is this, Can water get into the lower unit any other way. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the help. That prop removal exercise is building up my arm muscles and is helping me develop new ways to string together cuss words.

Re: Milky Lower Unit Pro Drive
What year is it? In 08 they added the top grease seal which eliminated alot of top seal leaks. But if the bottom seal is leaking it can suck up water and build up enough pressure to force lube and water out of the top seal. So change the bottom seal and start there.

It's a 36 hp 09 with power trim. I appreciate your help. Being a greenhorn and not knowing any better, I have been running this thing wide open in Guntersville backwater. The skeg has knocked crap out of some submerged stumps a few times . I know it can't be good for the motor. What usually breaks when you whack stumps?

Re: Milky Lower Unit Pro Drive
And one other thing. Never check your LU gear oil until it has set up for a day or so. The lube will fill with bubbles and make it look milky after it has been ran. Like being in a blender and if your not sure what your looking at you might think its water. Next time you change it run your motor in gear after for a few minutes and then check it again. You will see what Im talking about.
