Post Mud Buddy vs Go Devil prop
I recently purchased a mudbuddy big blade prop to replace my existing 3 blade go devil prop. There is no comparison, the go devil is 3 times the prop if you look at the numbers. On the go devil prop, I went around 100 miles of sandy river bottom before I had to change it. On the big blade, it was around 20 miles. Not only that, the prop wears completely different as you can see (both have lost right at an inch). The mud buddy just couldn't stand up to it. Any one else have this kind of problem?

I noticed the same thing with my prop. I had the big blade on and then put a three blade on and it made the biggest difference.

The GD 3 blade is much thicker and likely a harder material
or a better heat treatment.... I have had bad luck with prop
rebuilds too because the metal is so much softer it wears
quite rapidly....

Was there a speed difference? Tiller torque? Hole shot?

As for speeds I didnt have a gps but it felt close and as far as my hole shot it was night and day difference for the better but there is a significant increase in tiller torque.

As far as speed goes, the brand new Go Devil prop would push 26-27. The Mud Buddy prop was 22-23. The hole shot is night and day - Go Devil gets me up and going much faster. And, when you hit it, you better hang on.

Out of curiosity, which motor was this on? Most importantly, what were the pitches? That will make a difference, though not sure if the pitch should be different on the 3 vs. the 2.

I also wonder about the gearing in the different motors, and how that relates to the prop blades/pitch.

The GD 3 blade only comes one way - 11x12 pitch
( although IMO it is 11.5 pitch )

Believe the MB Big Blade is a 12 x 10 pitch - not sure what his was in the
pics above it might have been a different version - maybe 12 x 12

Normally the guys with heavy rigs like the MB due to the lower pitch
but say it does not last as long in the chit as the GD 3 blade does....

MB offers various pulleys and gearing from 1.2 to 1.5 to 1
GDSD comes stock with 1.4 to 1 gearing

Mb is a 10 pitch which will work a lot better on large heavy boats vs small light boats if u turning to many rpms u need to have it worked so it'll grab the same AS the 3 blade
