Post New lower unit coming soon.
I just ordered my new lower unit and power trim for my 07 prodrive. Does anyone have any tips when changing out the lower unit?

If your uneasy about doing it yourself but have to, take alot of pictures and notes. Anything that needs to be aligned such as belts or pullys take measurments and lable bolt bins. You may know these things already its what I do when ive got alot of wires to keep track of, good luck!

Thanks, I've changed motors in cars before and other mechanical work. But even like then I ask questions to see what heartaches to look for and solutions. It's better to know up front.

The hardest looks like the prop! I'm going to be making a wrench for help spin that off.

Get a brass hammer, much softer than that ss prop. Ive taken off many propellers with a brass hammer without damage, if it does give you trouble heat it right around the "hub" but not too much heat. Need to becareful you dont get the seals hot. When you put the prop back on use anti sieze, life will be easier the next time.

So where are these belts and pulleys on a Pro-Drive?

Make a prop wrench, dont hit it with a hammer. The prop is going to be snugged down on the bushing and it will take several turns to get it off the bushing, and until its off the bushing, you wont be able to turn it by hand, and you will have hit it with a hammer probably 100 times.

Undo the 4 bolts with spacers to lift the powerhead, tiller assembly, and engine mounting plate up as one piece. Under where the clutch was, undo the 4 bolts, and the lower unit should slide right out.

Be sure that you have a new bushing for your prop.

Why the new lower? Issues with the old one?

Yeah, remove the two bolts that hold the clutch in place.

I want to say it tells you in the instructions where to drill the hole for the grease zerk. I don't remember the measurement off the top of my head.
