 Re: Stainless Steel props?
Don't do it. Waste of money and can cause major damage. The thing is stainless props are only good on higer hp motors because aluminum props tend to flex with the higher hp. A smaller hp like your 15 wont make any difference. Also if you hit something with the stainless hard your looking at bending or breaking your prop shaft and seals. With an aluminum it will just chip off.

 Re: Stainless Steel props?
Man for real? too much prop and will break a shaft? In fact get right diameter and pitch it will perform better since an aluminum does lose pitch due to flex when in use. as for breaking a shaft, not gonna happen, there is a rubber bushing that will slip before breaking shaft.

 Re: Stainless Steel props?
Yeah, okay Tell that to the hundreds of people around here who put their outboards through hell in the stump fields with stainless props. I've seen the prop spin out, get bent, and even the lower unit get torn off. But never shaft or seal damage because of a stainless prop.

 Re: Stainless Steel props?
ive rebuilt 5 lower units thats a small percent but they have all had broken lower unit gears or broken shafts do to hitting stumps and rocks using stanless steel props i also read that some of the manufactures are starting to void warrantys on small motors if a stanless is put on and their is a failure in the lower unit

 Re: Stainless Steel props?
Plus, you can rebuild an aluminum prop easily. SS, not so much.

 Re: Stainless Steel props?
The first thing we do wif a new o/b is put a stainless wheel on it. Aluminum is good for lake boats. Sand eats an aluminum prop in seconds. Lillies will even twist the blades all up.
