Overall shaft length on a 6.5 surface drive?

 Overall shaft length on a 6.5 surface drive?
I'm working on my 6.5 sd build and im dEbating the shaft length. 14/36 boat, usually be two guys, some gear, mostly open/shallow water, skmetimes flooded corn, any suggestions? Im thinking about 30 inches.

Somewhere in that neighborhood, 27" is a popular number.

I have built them with 30" shafts. 27" would probably do but the longer shaft can help if you are bit off with the design of your trim or your drive housing length.
