 what size prop
What size prop do you recomend for a short shaft 13hp build? It will be on a 1436 jon. Also what size gear reduction would be best? Thanks

 Re: what size prop
I got a 13 HP short tail. Honda gx 390 and turning a 9x9 but i think i am over proped. It's a dixie Mud motor on 1442 Alumacraft.
Boat runs 20 mph all day long one person (24 WOT). Added my 300# pal and it ran 15 max. Felt over proped.
Im going to change out to a 9x6. Looking for a balance of speed vs load
Best of luck !

 Re: what size prop
The 9X9 is probably the best bet with a 1.5:1 or 1.3:1 reduction.
Going to a 9X6 is going to kill your performance, as it is not a surface-piercing prop, it is a sub-surface prop.
