Well it took a Category 1 hurricane, but the GDSD appears to have disintegrated on the inside. I might need Robn and Giga's help on this one! I put in on the side of a flooded road to go check on my buddy's boat to see how it's riding the storm out.



I ran about 75 yards down the ditch (3 or so feet deep with no obstructions) at WOT, and I heard metal violently rattling around inside the lower unit, and the boat came off step. The boat came to a stop with the motor still running and making noises, but no prop turning. I put it back on the trailer, and that's when I noticed that the cover over the U-joints is deformed. It's been pushed outward from the inside. Somebody tell me how bad this is, please...

Damn! Looks like the u-joint gave and threw the shaft maybe, tear it down and post pics of the inside.

Looks expensive...But I wouldnt straighten out the plate....It adds character...

Coot make arrangements to be thrown out of team GD. It will Be made clear that the issues you have are because of your own fault. No way possible that those issues wasn't your own fault.

Coot don't take it the wrong way but I'm glad it broke their and not were you would have yo have called for help. Could have been a bad situation

When you get it fixed it really would be a good idea to buy a tube of grease and use it.

Terry, from the look of it its short on grease. That can cause the shaft to seize. You are kinda playing with fire here though posting already so much on this thread. Im sure giga will now post on every broken gtr post. Lol Way to go.

From what I see theirs still grease in the site glass so that means their still grease in the shaft. Might be low but it still has grease. Plus he only went 70 yards

Ouch, yeah open up the cover & take a quick look. Snap a photo then seal it back up. No point on fixing it until after the storm passes.

Even a well lubed u joint can break. It happens all the time on tractor implements, which is where u joints belong.

Why does he need to answer to you. You can barely change your oil much less diagnose his problem their bud!!

Scrap that pos & get your deposit in on a new Sport H that's gonna take the mud motor world by storm just after the Sport V does the same.
