 always wear your kill switch!!
BOATING ACCIDENT ON AREA LAKE INJURES ONE - 12/21/10 Two brothers that went to Gillham Lake Saturday learned a lesson in low water safety when the boat they were riding in flipped over after hitting a submerged object in the water.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:15 Saturday afternoon according to Howard County Sheriff Butch Morris. The brothers were identified as 25-year-old Trevor Durham of Conway and 21-year-old Jakeb Durham of Rolland. After hitting the submerged item both men were thrown from the boat. The prop of the motor struck Jakeb and due to the injuries, he was air lifted by Air Evac to a Texarkana hospital. The injuries were listed as non-life threatening.

Re: always wear your kill switch!!
Yup, seen them before. On a longtail you have to anticipate those turns a bit more and ease into them. There are times I wish for more speed but how fast do you really want to be going when you hit that submerged stump? The one promise the SLT holds is that neutral clutch feature which could be a life saver as well. I concur that the kill switch needs to working and the lanyard on your wrist before you fire the motor up. Oh yeah, wear your pfd while under way.

Ive been launched out of the boat doing about 20mph by a LT running in 3 inches of water and ass sucking mud thankfully I had the kill tether on. The prop kicked up over my boot doing no damage to me thankfully.
