I have a Mudbuddy 5500 with balanced drive / This past weekend i took the boat out for a ride and all of a sudden right where the end of the shaft is / where the thread starts on the shaft, breaks off along with the propeller. Now need a new propeller and propeller shaft.

My shaft size is a 32" 7/8 inch

Has this happened to any of you guys.

Wells sounds like to me that pretty much is a replica of a gd!! So with that being the issue I'm sure it's pretty common for lower units to fail so often!!

Robin we already know you carry more tools than any Gtr owner I know!! You might want to go order a new seal for that 100 hr grease job in that housing since theirs no other way to grease it!!

Rare but it does happen. Normally not at the time of impact. Impacts over time cause them to go out. Do you run a lot of rocks?

Doug a Gtr has a seal go out it's a lower unit problem. But if a gd has a seal go out it's not a lower unit issue!! Do a search on seals bud!!

Yep he did. Also Hunter broke his PD shaft. If you hit shit over and over it will break I do not care what you drive. Robin have you ran swamp with stumps, logs, mud, and veggies? Hard on equipment.

OP: check the casing on the LU. A bud a mine known as Marktank on here has a second LU due ta the 1st one cracking around the welds on the skeg and runnin around the shaft casing. He just got a new one and within 2 weeks the same things started again.
