Post GDSD Lower Took Quite A Hit Today...
I almost forgot to tell y'all, but I was headed to the Causeway after work today cause I was mad at the Teal. While en route, I was sitting at a stop light, and got rear ended by a Dodge truck. I got a lump in my throat when I looked back and saw his hood crumpled around my prop! I got out to see what I was working with, and I could see that it broke my trailer strap over the stern and pushed the boat a little sideways on the trailer. I could see some extra shiny spots on the prop, but it didn't look to be bent. As far the shaft, it seemed ok, but I was a little afraid to crank it, considering I just had to replace my u-joints in the lower unit. I decided to crank it and watch the wobble of the prop anyway. I cranked it and.....

Perfect! Not the slightest wobble.

The Dodge, on the other hand, was not so lucky. Hood and grill was fucked up! I felt kinda bad, but dude shouldn't have messed with the Go-Devil. I was glad the motor was good, so we shook hands and continued on. I was a little nervous that I might find problems that I didn't notice right away when (if) I got on step, but she ran beautifully, as always.

Anyway, feel free to hate, but the GDSD proved her worth today!

So now you know what it would be like if a GD backed onto a truck. Ha, GD will never back up.

Hey Coot, nice to hear the boat and motor are running like a champ. Aint that steel frame something. I got rearended once as well. Put a nice gouge right in the hood of the car. Had to lift the skeg out of the hood. Glad to hear it man!

Bart was telling me about a similar one that smashed into the boat. Truck was totalled. GD banged out the spots on the hull and the engine frame was not damaged at all. Boat ended up off the trailer, but is still on the water today.

That same thing happened to me after purchasing my first GTR.

I pulled out of the local dealer parking lot and 2 mins later got rear ended.

The car was undriveable but my boat and motor didn't have a single nick in the paint even.

Only damage I had was to the side bunk on the trailer that got bent as the boat was pushed over.
