Post Grass on prop
My mud motor has a 1/4” gap from the prop to the bushing. Grass always gets tangled up in that area. Always have to clear it out.

Is that normal ? Should I add a washer to fill the gap ?

does it wrap up in there and then clog up the prop? I had a similar problem with my LT, took som 1/8" plate and welded it to the skeg so it had very little clearance to that gap, it acted like a shear and cut anything that started to get wrapped up.

Yes. I was going to add an oversized washer and sharpen the edges so it would cut it but I think your idea will work better.

IU am having the same problem. It sounds like most say the skeg should be closer to the prop. I guess I will try making a new skeg and seeing how that does with the grass.

A little grass there shouldn't affect anything, and reversing should clear most of it. Now nylon fishing line or trot line string that with do a number on your seals!!! Get it out asap!!!
