Please keep an eye out for a 10 year old black lab that was stolen from a dog box in Lafayette. He has white on his muzzle and front paws and only has 3 toes on one hind foot. He is not chipped and answers to Boz.
We were on our way back from a Texas duck hunt and were staying at the Jameson in Lafayette. The thief used a crowbar to force the padlock off of the dog's hole.
Surveillance video shows a mid-thirties white guy, driving a mid 2000s chevy silverado or gmc sierra, goldish pewter with darkened windows.
The dog belongs to a young Major in the Air Force that has owned the dog since he was a puppy. He flew back from South America just for this duck hunt.

This is my worst nightmare. I hope you find your dog and they catch this POS. My dog is my kid and I couldn't imagine losing him.

All thieves should burn in hell! It's bad enough when someone steals material possessions but when the steal a family member they should get charged the same as kidnapping, IMO. Hope they find them. New Years night somebody stole a Carolina skiff, and stripped it, the pirogue, and decoys from my buddy across the street from me. The guy was caught and he had so much stuff at his house that was all stolen they didn't know what belonged to who. Good luck with finding the dog.

This story is getting lots of attention. The thief will get his ass handed to him shortly. I'd check the apartments behind the Waffle house. I parked in my boat there one morning to eat breakfast and had to move it because there were some itinerants in the complex scoping out an opportunity to steal something.

Our initial thought was that someone close-by stole him, so we searched the projects behind that area closely. The manager for the Jameson/Baymont refused to come in to show the surveillance video to the police, since it was "only" a dog involved. We went next door and talked to the people at the Waffle House and low and behold he was on their video. He actually parked at the Waffle House, then walked across the street to break into the dog truck.

I emailed baymont corporate letting them know that the story is on several hunting and dog forums as well as those members posting that info to their facebook pages and that the position taken by the manager or franchisee was totally inappropriate and that i could guarantee i would not be staying at one of their facilities and that i would influence those i know not to either...I hope they will cooperate and the dog can be found......stealing is bad enough but when a loved one is stolen it is evil.....

U should dress up in a dog suit and catch the manager on the way out and beat his ass real good and then see how unimportant dogs really are......hope get the dog back.

There was a possible sighting across that road on new years day. They searched the area and didn't see him.

Unfortunately Jamie had to leave today and head home to get ready for his next deployment. He does have a good friend that lives in Lafayette who can keep up with everything.

Boz is gone. I just got a call from Jamie. He got into a fight with a pit bull across the road from the hotel. When animal control arrived he was in such bad shape that they euthanized him. Jamie wants to thank everyone for their concern and help.
