 Boat Seats (driver)
I saw a similar post, but can't find it. Anyway, what do yall use for your driver seat? I've got a 16x56 go-devil hull and was thinking about going with a pedistal seat, but now I'm not sure. Cabelas has a 4-legged seat frame you can mount a swivel chair to. I like the idea of being able to move the seat if I need to. When I hunt, i'll want it in the middle. What do yall think and use?

Small Ice Chest...
Since I never go hunting or boating without survival stuff - like breakfast and a couple of drinks...
All of our blinds are actually constructed so that a 20 quart chest fits under the bench seat... Small enough that you can kick it around and out of your way when driving standing up... Or sit down for a nice easy drive...

 Re: Boat Seats (driver)
if that boat has the seat base already in the floor, you can get an offset seat post that can move out of the way when necessary. The tempress high back seats from cabelas are very comfortable. if you dont need it, pop it off and throw out of the way, if you want it in the middle, with the offset base, thats where it is.

 Re: Boat Seats (driver)
Ok. My current seat/rig is a milk crate I bolted a peice of plywood to, then bolted the pedistal base to the wood so I can put a pole and swivel chair on, works pretty good and is stable too. Am i close?

 Re: Boat Seats (driver)
Sounds like a partnership... Gotta tell the truth though, I used to work with some boys from Bayou Sorrel/Grand Bayou area who comm. fished/crawfished the spillway. I went on a rabbit hunt and one of them had these "special" seats he'd made and they worked good. I tell yu, if you really want to see some cool engineering, show up at any spillway boat launch in hunting season, and you'll definately see some clever contraptions. Nasa should hire coonasses, they could come up with a much cheaper way to get a man to the moon.

 Re: Boat Seats (driver)
i use just regular fold up bag chairs they are the perfect height and can be folded up and kicked out the way. then when you really want to move up scale you can get the ones with the beer holder in the arm.

 Re: Boat Seats (driver)
Kelly,
My son made a seat on a milk crate with the plywood, but screwed on a camo folding seat with the flat swivel. It works great behind my center console on my PD boat. Move it out and replace with a hunting bucket for duck hunting.

 Re: Boat Seats (driver)
i use a round bar stool top on an offset post. its really comfortable and the seat back does not get in the way when you are trying to hang on to the tiller and sit down. works good.

 Re: Boat Seats (driver)
was going to get that seat base from Gator Tail but just went with a 2x6 that I cut out and lay between the flotation gunwales. Works OK but you ride pretty high. Also have a PD motor on this GD Hull. If you hit a stump or something and the motor comes up, the operating arm will hit on the board. Just have to make sure you sober enough to react fast of else you'll have busted hand!
