Post Mud Buddy Hydrofoil needed?
I'm wondering if the hydrofoil helps on the mb motors. I have a 35 on 16x48 boat and I have seen some of the newer boats with the hydrofoil. Is this something that helps in mud, or just in open water. If anyone can fill me in it would be greatly appreciated.

I understand how it works on a boat in open water. I just was worried about the affects in thick mud, and debris. I looked on MB's web site and didn't see anything offered for the 35. Is this something that can be purchased, or just custom built?

You can buy them from mud buddy. Just gotta call and ask.... That is if you can get ahold of them.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the cavitation plate above the prop.

No I haven't had any problems with it. I've never ran one with out it to compare it to.

Never heard it called a hydrofoil. Mine doesn't have it and runs fine. I think they were designed to help funnel mud to your prop and not blow out

Yeah I guess it's called a cavatition plate. I just can't decide if its actually needed or not. There seems to be mixed reviews on weather they help or hurt in the mud. MB said that they help in thick mud and told me that they sell for $200 with shipping to fit a 27" shaft. Does anyone run a SD with and without a cavatation plate?

Honestly I'd use the money for mods. We had a negative tide this past weekend in SC and I had no problem running in it. Even pulled some boats out.

Not the one MB designed for the Hypers. It's to assist in mud.

I made my own brace for my mini MB without cavitation plate. I did not notice any advatage of the cavitation plate in mud. I did notice the prop cleans out better in veggies and lillies without it.

Thanks guys. I'll move forward with blind construction and then take it loaded to the mud.
