Nope just long range shooting can shoot up to 1500 yards have shot that far once but we typical shoot a 1000 yards

That's my 308 on left and a 6.5x284 on right that will stretch to 1500 yards don't shoot it a lot since I built my 308 like playing with it at a 1000 lot more challenging then the 6.5 it's a Tac driver even out to a 1000

Not really! U can buy box ammo these days for it! I have never shot any, only hand loads! If ur wanting to shoot target wind is not as much of an issue like on 30 cal bullets. will kill a deer at 862 yards too! Really the only down fall I have with mine is length but it's necessary to make sure u get full powder burn with it. Has a 30" barrel and total length is 51" If ur wanting to go up to 1500 yards then I might would consider a 6.5 creedmore can do a short action and my buddy has one that is awesome to shoot! He buys Hornaday ammo when he can these days and it hold an awesome group at a 1000! Only thing I don't like ab the creedmore is not much on reloading stuff for them!

I've been considering the creedmoor as well as a Grendel on a bolt action. The 6.5 have excellent BC which I like, but are kinda low on barrel life. But I guess it's not like ill be plinking with it like I do my .308. And I'll def be hand loading my rounds.

It would only group 1.15" at 200 yards but it was a head turner at the local range... 110 grain V-Max from a 30-378mag

This is with the 6.5x284 at a 1000 2.53 inches shooting prone. I can get close every time but this is a once in a life time group

Im in the process of having one built off of a remington 700 long action, pacnor 1-8 twist barrel 5R rifling, mcmillan stock.

the 6.5 bullet family is bad ass imo, high BC, fast and flat shooting, but a real barrel burner

EDIT: what bullet weight are you shooting and whats your twist rate?
