Question about seats with backrest:
Having my first mudboat built by Jay at Instagator. Boat will be a 16.5x46 with a 25GTR. I want a simple, clean layout. All I have is the front deck, small huntdeck, and a small "pod" on the starboard side of the boat with a seat pedestal base in it----I would really, really like to be able to run the boat sitting down with a folding seat with a backrest for long runs (6-10 miles) to save some wear and tear on my lower back; sitting on a cooler the whole time will have me at a chiropractor every Monday.
I don't see many boats set up with backrest seats for the driver. Is this because the boats are impossible to drive with them, or do all the young bucks on here just not need them (yet)?
My only other option if I can't sit down and run it is to have a small, one-man leaning post fabricated. ($$)

Re: Question about seats with backrest:
This is what I ordered. I am going to move my ice chest. The seat swivels so you should be able to adjust seat setup to run like you want.

Re: Question about seats with backrest:
I just found this setup and I like it a lot. I think I may do this instead, maybe with a 45qt.

Re: Question about seats with backrest:
I found the back rest seats are nice but get in the way while have to "work" the motor. I had 3 seats in my InstaGator. The driver one is nice for long hauls but I never used it that much while underway in the dark. Do not buy the cheap ones @ academy or Wal Mart whatever you have locally if you decide on the get some get the good ones. I found I broke the cheap ones with plastic bases but yes the option will be put them in the boat when the new one once it is built.
