Post Trim tabs for plateboat w F200 questions.
My all 3/16 24x72 with Yamaha F 200 is ass heavy and with no load I have to tilt the motor tail down to keep it from porpoising. I have Atlas jack plate on the boat too. I have honda motor with a sweetwater blower[aerator] in the back along with the fuel tanks and battery. With my fish boxes full of water its not a problem as the boat trims out nicely and I can haul ass. I am running longer distances and would like to go most of the distance without water in the boxes. I would like to be able to run the motor level and raised up in the sweet spot for speed and fuel economy.
I have thought about building a set of trim tabs for the back to solve this empty no load problem/porpoising. Is there a formula for trim tab sizes based on boat weight and width and????
I know if I did weight redistribution it would solve the problem however I need the front of the boat for working. My thinking is if I would build the trim tabs I could build them stout to allow a emergency step to get in the boat if thrown out.
I have thought about the Smart tabs too. Any thoughts on them? Thanks in advance. Netman
