Post Opening Weekend
Well, Last weekend was our opening weekend. I must say it was long awaited. It felt good to be out again.

Saturday, it was me a buddy and his dad hunting a water hole in a flooded bean field... But no matter what, every time i hunt this thing, birds come in 15 mins early. It gets kind of annoying. We had our 3 limits in about an hour.

Sunday, we found a corn field with a water hole in it. Watched our birds the birds saturday afternoon and figured it would be a decent hunt. Our birds came in around 10 mins before shooting light, but mostly teal. We were tired of killing teal so we waited for some big ducks. Consequently we were done around 1030.

Over all it was not a bad opener. Ive had worse..... Like last year.....

Nice hunts! My buddys son is in from Iraq and I took him yesterday for some woodduck action. Had a good time and it was his first trip in my GDSD  . He is home on a short leave and told his dad that a duck hunt'n trip with Randy was all that he wanted for his leave. His dad told me this and there was no way I was gonna keep that from happening. I asked him if there was anything else that he wanted while home and he said 'nope this is all I wanted' I asked really???? He replied this hunt and my girlfriends snatch. :o :o
I wanted to take some pics with him and the ducks but he left us hanging when we stopped for some fried chicken and his girlfriend was waiting on him  Darn texting phones.
Randy

It was a good time, can't wait till Sunday till I get to kill some more birds.

Saturday we are doing a youth hunt. We have 27 kids signed up. We have a total of 16 guides as well as Ryan Nolan the 2008 world duck calling champion. We have all sorts of cool stuff that the kids will get to take home. Also I'll add that hunt sleep fish tv will be there making a tv show about the event

I'll have to post pics at the end of the weekend!

I don't have many of the youth hunt but it sure was fun! Everyone out there killed a bird except for one kid. His guide didnt do his homework..

Ill try and get some more pics, or better yet, watch Hunt Sleep Fish TV. They had a few camera crews there and will have a tv show on the hunt.

Ryan Nolan talking about becoming a World Champion Caller.

This young fella one a brand new Benelli Nova. Not a bad deal at all!

After the hunt and afternoon activities i drove back to Stillwater, to go to the game with my dad. Lets just say i left in the 3rd quarter. By the time i got to bed, the score was 41-14. Texas and OSU has their flaws, So do the zebras.... There were some bad calls.

We had planned on going out west to hunt this morning and we did. I actually found someone that wasn't going out to party on halloween. It was slower than last weekend, alot of our birds have moved out, we didn't see any big numbers. Our shooting could have been better, and we should have been done in an hour. We finished out around 9:30.

Dude, you sound like your bummed every time it takes you till 8:30 or 9:00 to kill a limit. I wish we all had that problem. When you get older you won't be in such a hurry. I love/hate quick limits. I figure if I get out of bed and go through all that ordeal I want it to last till at least 9-10:00, then home for a good noon nap...........

It really was a good time. The kids had a blast! The guy who put on the hunt already has kids signing up for next year and half the parents went out and bought their kids new waders and such. I think next year is supposed to be even better!

Ronnie, the only reason i was bummed was because we lost 3/4 of our birds. Lost, nowhere to be found, they moved out. I need to let that place rest for 2 weeks or so. Plus like i said, our shooting should have been better. Lets just say my dog was getting really upset lol.
