 Shopping for a new rig.
I am new to this forum and am looking at getting a new setup. Leaning toward a Excel/Mudbuddy combo. 1751 or 1754, not sure what the advantages are they are very close in size and as far as the motor is bigger always better? No pun intended. Also .125 hull thickness vs. .100. I need to run as shallow as possible. Thanks!

Where are you located? And what kind of terrain do you run?

Mid Michigan and as far as terrain I would say shallow and loggy would best describe it.

Re: Shopping for a new rig.
Gitcha one of those phowler rigs..... they are made somewhere up north and have a good reputation for customer service....im not a fan of excel boats or mudbuddy motors.....but to each their own. Phowler can build a rig for any of the brands.... also check out wc customs... pete has built and shipped several boats north of the mason dixon... he can build you a boat for your specific needs ...... for terrain and for layout purposes. Here is a pic of mine. I had my gun boxes built into front deck and left the hull wide open....

I also like sitting in a chair...way more comfortable than a box. uploadfromtaptalk1380468192446.jpg
Coolers can be used for dry box, cooler and seating..... or use fold out chairs... sent from the former Republic of Texas.

Re: Shopping for a new rig.
Bigger is better. ... more torque and load carrying ability with a 35hp.... I have the 25 hp gtr.... I hunt federal refuges with hp restrictions. If I didnt have those restrictions id be in the 35 gtr.... but the 25 pushes my 1840 pretty well..... struggles a little with a heavy load.
