 Re: THE...new Browning A5
Got it in two days ago and already shot 9 boxes through it.
I have one more choke to pattern (Kicks full). The Invector DS chokes pattern pretty nice for factory chokes. So far the Invector DS modified patterns the best using #4 shot at 35/30/25 yards.

Actually that was my first hunting gun (the A5 Magnum, late 1950's model) passed down to me by my Paw Paw. When I was overseas in the Marines it was lost in a house fire

I do like the new ones. A buddy let me put some rounds thru his last time shooting skeet. I still hunt with an old Belgium A5 Magnum that I've rebuilt from front to back. Mine's a '58 model

 Re: THE...new Browning A5
Do you have the 3" or the 3.5? How is the recoil on the new gun? I shot my old Belgium light 12 at skeet & doves several times this year... and thought DAMN , I remember why it has been in the safe since I bought the SBE.

 Re: THE...new Browning A5
If they shoulder & point w/ the same drop as the old guns it is worth the recoil. Dad bought my Lt. 12 when I was 1 month old & never shot it. When I got big enough I shot the first round through it. I have killed a bunch of stuff & won some $ w/ that kicking MF.

Been shooting a new model A-5 for a while and really love the gun,For you guys shooting the older A-5's that have not replaced the recoil spring you should do it!It will kick a lot less and keep it from cracking the forearm

Are you shooting the duck or goose code black? I just bought the goose, havent patterned it yet. I shoot w kicks hf full, but a buddy thought the pattern too tight on the patternmaster and sold it to me for 25 bucks.....lol....I love friends that cant hit the broadside of a barn sent from the former Republic of Texas.

 Re: THE...new Browning A5
I have a couple of original A5 stalkers and an original A5. I'd like to buy one of those new A5's if they are patterning well.
I always hear people talk about recoil. That A5 original doesn't kick bad at all. And it's a gun, it's supposed to kick. If you are a kid I can understand the recoil issue, but a grown man?????

Recoil doesn't bother me one bit. I was mentioning recoil as a reference to the other higher end waterfowl guns.

I have one too and the recoil is definitely worse than my beretta and Benelli. The browning seems to kick up and in to my cheek.

I have a new 3.5, and It doesn't have anymore recoil than my SBE. I don't notice anymore than my Gold also. I love this thing, it points very well.

 Re: THE...new Browning A5
Trouser, I agree with the CS from Benelli. Barnes, if you are shooting well with the new gun that is the key. I'm definitely interested in one as I still shoot that ol Belgium better than any other gun I have ever shot. I have always noticed that folks who started on the humpback did well with them and Benelli while the Remington crowd didn't like them & shot beretta more comfortably. It's all about what fits you & your style best.

 Re: THE...new Browning A5
Didn't know they made warranties for shotguns....what the hell breaks so much you have to stay with them? If I was that dependant on warranty work I would switch companies.

Partly tongue and cheek, but in 40 years I've never sent a gun in for warranty work. Just lucky I guess.

 Re: THE...new Browning A5
The old Remington model 11 looks just like the A5 and is based off the same patent, except most of them were chambered for 2-9/16" vs 2-3/4" shells. If you've ever talked to someone that said they "kicked like a mule", they were probably right, probably because they loaded it with 2-3/4" shells. There isn't enough room for the crimp to fully open, so the shot recoils backwards when it can't move forward easily through the crimp. You can have this easily fixed by lengthening the forcing cones though.

I really like my 3" A5 I got last year, I just ordered up another 3.5" A5 in MO Blades and a 3.5" Maxus for the old man. Too bad we have to wait until 2014 for them to ship
