1852 New build. All done, test run this weekend.
Started on this hull Saturday for a friend of mine, who goes by Hogjaw here on MMT.
Boat is a 1852 with 23" sides 3/16 bottom and 1/8 sides Extended front deck with dry storage in bow. full weld in floor removable gun box one single rear operator seat with storage. 4" catwalk gunwales hunt deck
He will be running a 35 GTR on it when it is finished. I will also be taking it to XXX designs to be painted as well, as I was so pleased as to how my last build turned out.
Got to plant food plots at the deer lease this weekend, but an of Friday and plan to at least get the floor tacked in and the catwalks on, and hope to finish up on it the following weekend. I will post some more pictures as it comes along, and will have a review up once he gets up and running.
Justin

Re: 1852 New build in the works
It's awesome to see my boat progress posted here. I've been running a 1648 for the past couple of years and love the boat, but with my two girls (ages 3 and 4) now starting to make occasional hunts and a new baby due in 10 days, I had mentioned to Justin (Captain JJ) that I wanted to get a bigger boat for added safety. Justin offered to build me a custom boat and this is how it's shaping up. I'm obviously very excited to see it coming together and can't say how much I appreciate what he's doing.

Re: 1852 New build in the works
Chris,
Played hooky today from the real job to work on your boat. Will work on it again tomorrow, but got to go up to the camp this weekend for a work weekend. Should be finished up next weekend though.
Got the floor in it today as well as the front deck. Got on side of the gunwales on ( I'm still waiting on a length of angle to finish the other side) and started trimming up the hunt deck and transom. Welded some 2" round stock under the gunwales that will be drilled and tapped for mounting a bow fishing light bracket, and I'm going to weld some for mounting a pop up blind.
Got some welding to finish up tomorrow, and will then start on the rear seat and gun box.

Re: 1852 New build in the works
Yeah, I finally was able to get back to work on it today, although I didn't get to put a full day in with other stuff going on. Going to try and get a full day at it tomorrow and should be damn close to finishing up and being ready for paint.

I like down slope on the huntdeck, it ties it together and looks awesome.

Re: 1852 New build in the works
The boat looks awesome! From the rail under the bow deck to keep my fuel tanks in place, to the shell/beer shelf on the side, to welding in round stock strategically around the boat to be drilled/tapped for scissor blind and bowfishing rail installation, to boxing in a corner of the driver's seat/box to protect the back of the switch panel and connections from any crap that I'll throw in the driver's box, etc., etc., Justin has done way more than what I could have expected.
The hull obviously looks great, but he's gone above and beyond in terms of the details to make this boat complete for pretty much any use that I will have for it. I can't wait to get it in the water. Thanks again Justin.

Finally got around to finishing up on this hull. Boat came out really great, I love the lines of it. Will be getting it to the painter next fro the camo job and turf. Can't wait to see how that turns out and then see some performance numbers.

Re: 1852 New build. Finished, ready for paint!
I wish that I could take credit for how nice this boat turned out, but that belongs to Justin (CaptainJJ). I picked it up this morning and will have it to XXX Designs for paint and hydro turf this weekend. As soon as that's done, i'll drop my Gatortail on it and we'll have the update that I, at least, have been waiting for. Again, I can't thank Justin enough for all of his work put into this hull.

Re: 1852 New build. Finished, ready for paint!
I'm glad that my wife isn't aware of mudmotortalk.com or else she'd finally know what was in those two large boxes that got delivered last week. Here's the swamp camo hydro turf that will be installed next week.

Re: 1852 New build. Finished, ready for paint!
Between mayhem at work and a quick stay in the hospital for my 1 month old son, I didn't get a chance to bring the boat to Tim at XXX Designs for paint and turf until the Wednesday before last. A week later, Tim called to say that it's ready and I picked it up this morning. I couldn't be more pleased with the finished boat, and I couldn't be more excited to get this thing in the water. I think the photos speak for themselves, but the build by Justin Justrabo (Captain JJ) and the paint/turf from Tim Boudreaux have far exceeded my expectations. The finished boat is an 1852 that Justin built with 3/16 bottom, 1/8 sides, fully welded floor, hunt deck, bow deck with dry storage and overhang for gas tanks, removable gun box, driver seat/dry storage box, spud holders at stern, 4" catwalks, and beer/shell shelf. Tim painted the whole rig in shadowgrass (with green background/base) and installed swamp camo Hydroturf on floor, bow deck, gun box, drivers box, beer shelf, and hunt deck. Justin is a long time friend with a lot of talent to whom I'm now very indebted, and Tim is a new acquaintance that is obviously extremely good at what he does and whose work supports the recomendations that he received. Many thanks to you both.
