 GTR 35 Performance
I am fairly new to the MM world and have a few kwerstions. I had a 27 MB HD on a 15'6" Excel boat. I sold the motor once I did some research and bought a 35 GTR because the 27 HP just didn't do the trick. I hunted this am with 3 guys (700 lbsish) a dog and all the gear including 6 dozen dekes. I know that's a lotta weight for that boat. I've had 3 guys in there before but today it would not get on plane and the highest I could get the RPMs were @ 3200-3300. It did ok in the mud but deep water it BLOWS. I was prolly topping out at @ 10 mph. I took it out after I dropped the guys off and it ran like a scalded dog. I was thinking maybe the prop was damaged and that was the issue. By myself the RPMs would get to 3900-4000. Any pointers/advice? Is the boat that much heavier than say a gt boat or is that just to much weight period?

Your hull probably has a lot to do with it I've had 6 guys plus hunting load so at least 1200lbs and still got on a plane in deep water I have a 35gtr on a 18:48

Lose some weight or get a longer hull.

 Re: GTR 35 Performance
With a stock motor with that load in a good 18'boat you would see 24-26.

 Re: GTR 35 Performance
Nothing wrong with motor. Too much weight for that hull.

 Re: GTR 35 Performance
Been there... I could never carry a load with my Excel and 35GTR combo. I ditched the Excel and now am very happy.
