35 Hp GD Surface Drive Issues
Hey guys, I have a 35 hp Go Devil surface drive that has been giving me fits. I purchased it new before last season and have always had this issue. But, it is getting worse... much worse. When I release the throttle to return to idle the engine almost always dies. Also, the engine will also usually die if it's in the water at idle. I have to give it throttle to remain running. However, the idle RPM seems normal. High end RPM is also fine. Restarting the motor 15 times while setting up for a hunt is getting old. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Adjust your governed idle spring. Have a valve job done.

Bet you lost the idle spring - you should have 3 springs back there.... Set your idle to 1100 to 1200 rpms out of water running on the trailer.... See link - from DB8 with pics... viewtopic.php?f=3&t=34955&p=412343&hilit=idle+spring#p412343

What is your normal idle speed set at? I haven't ran a idle spring on my PD since it was delivered and it idles fine at 1000 out of the water and 890 in.
