I've got a buddy who is wondering if a 23 long tail will push a 16x48 all welded Grizzly...
Mostly 2 people and gear...I think it would need more engine, but you guys would know better than me...
What says you?

King key, friend of mine had that boat with a 29hp mudbuddy longtail and it was very slow with a hunt load. Great with an outboard , but a pig with longtail. Try to find a 1648 flat bottom if you can.

That is pretty much what I figured...just needed to confirm.

It will push it, but not the way he is hoping. With that load I bet all he will do is plow and prob run around 10mph giver or take.

I had a 23 go-devil on a 1652 polarkraft flat jon for a few years. It got us to the spot and home but she was slow, basically plowed everywhere, only really got on step when I was alone with a small load or we hit the shallows she would hop up on step.

I had a 25 GDLT on a Grizzly 1654. It was great by myself, but 16 was flying with a full load.

It could work but it ain't gunna be going fast. More hp will make u happier! I have a 23 sd on a 1648 tracker. It has mods. Runs 25 max with me on it decoys and crap. Even when empty it runs 25 with the occasional bump to 26 or 27. But 25 it is.
