Post Best mudmotor in vegetation!
About to have my sons skiff started in a few weeks. I would really like to go with a huntdeck on it. I really like the new 25 GatorTail. But not sure it will run in extereme vegetation. So should I get a 27 prodrive. I'm going to be hunting in the marsh that's full of vegetation and lilies.

I'd go with the gen 3 ProDrive. They have the most torque for a stock motor, which is what you want in the thick veggies. And IMO the FPR will help you a bit better in the thick grassy chit...If you would've said all you were going to be running was mud, I'd say gator tail. But if it's 95% grass you will run go with the gen 3 ProDrive.

However, they are both great. Go to Loreauville and visit both PD and GT for a test drive then decide.

Yeah I bet it does. Wouldn't mind a 35 but I would rather start my son on a smaller on. He's only 6

I know I won't beable to go through the stuff the other members go through with the big inboard mud boats. Just wanting to make sure when I'm out there I'm not spending most of my time fighting grass and actually being able to hunt.

Go drive a gtr and a pd. Make a decision then. You have one group that likes pd and the other side gt. Myself I wouldn't have a gtr so I say go pd  See my point? Go drive em.

The 25s and 27s with both bog down much worse in the heavy than the 35s and 36s.
The old model Prodrives would catch veggies with the factory skeg, but BB's skeg fixes that. I also think with prodrives back weighted motor helps in the veggies vs a balanced motor.
The new g3 Prodrive is a tractor for a stock motor.

Not sure why terry posted this video.... Prodrive would idle in reverse through that. Just saying. And there wouldn't be no picking up, slamming, dancing and singing to the motor. Oh and the boat would still be dry.

I've driven both GTR and PD in Heavy Veggies and they both do good, both motors are a weighted back design. I did find that GTR handled the veggies a little better beings it doesn't have the bulky skeg.

Yep I mean 6!!! Yep that's what I told her and she's fine with that. She also knows if I don't sell my other rig that's in complete rig section she will have to drive one of them.

There's a boat around the house that has a 19'x44 skiff with 18" sides and a new prodrive that supposedly runs like 29mph

EFI is an option on the 36hp, not standard.
