 pvt
So I have decided to go with pvt to pep up the duck barge. I spoke with him the other day and he seems like a real knowledgeable guy. I have a stock 35 mb and I am leaning towards his flat top pistons, rods, rr, push rods, and a carb. I am goint to get him to work the heads and replace the valves.
Anyone run his setup? He also recamends a 38mm instead of the 42. Thoughts?

 Re: pvt
He apparently had the original recipe for the MB 45 MAG and there was some sort of falling out with MB. Not sure how much that recipe has changed, but oddly the 45 MAG is still MB most dependable performance motor. I have talked to him before. Yes, he knows his stuff and I am positive some other guys will agree here too.

 Re: pvt
Apparently he designed th mag 45 and built hundreds of them. Then mb ripped off some of his parts and that put an end to that.
Big, did his fail or do you have his ansd only have 20 hrs on them.

 Re: pvt

 Re: pvt
Are the aftermarket push rods the problem or are they being blamed for other things?

 Re: pvt
This is true you can't build something bullet proof, their is always gonna b a weak link. The push rod is an easy fix. But is the the bent push rods a mechanical issue or the man that was behind the wrench that didn't know what he was doing??

 Re: pvt
Al is a great guy and knows his stuff. I'll be using his parts on my next boat as well. Really like the fact my work is five minutes from his shop.

 Re: pvt
Cupped Up, it was definitely a problem when I had my rig that's for sure! I'll still drop in here and there and shoot the breeze with him.
Nanny, if there's anything you need a hand with, just shoot me a message. I actually live in Pageland, SC.
