 GTR shaft length
I'm about to purchase a 35 GTR and I read on another thread that you can get two different shaft lengths. 27&32" What would be the real world differences between.the two? Its going on a GATOR TRAX 1644. Any help would be appreciated.

 Re: GTR shaft length
Depends what you run
Lots of deep mud go 32
Not too much mud and heavy weeds stumps etc...27
Either work quite well

 Re: GTR shaft length
I've only had the 27" and it was duals on a console. Is the 32" substantially better getting on step over hard bottom?

 Re: GTR shaft length
You better figure it out before u buy. I hear it's quiet a bit more to upgrade later.
It may benifit you to get the longer and try it if your that intrested. There is alot of people that have the 27 and would like to try the 32 but the price is holding them back.
Bottom line if you get a 32. I don't think it would be hard to trade for a 27 and a little cash.

 Re: GTR shaft length
Just saying puts a lot more load on your motor especially when digging deep definitely would want to have some mods. And plus you will lose some turning radius. But if you got the motor to turn it definitely an animal in the mud and a some gain on the big end due to reduced angle on the prop.

 Re: GTR shaft length
On a day to day use I'll take my 27" over 32" any day. The new lower units have a 30". I think that length is the better of the 3

 Re: GTR shaft length
The belt housing would have to be changed. It's a different mount up.
