 Home made audio pipe rebuild...
Made this 2 years ago out of an 8 inch pipe and 2 elbows, free pos radio that only had speaker wires for left front side, 2 brand new pioneer 3way 6x9s and a radio antenna. it started shorting out a few weeks ago and the radio must have gave up. so i decided to tear it down and redo the whole thing. this is the only pic i have of what it looked like before. as you can see it is huge about 4' wide with no where to grab it.

Re: Home made audio pipe rebuild...
I put another free radio with a light up display that would actualy work well, sanded most of the paint, cut the pipe shorter, and added an aluminum handle to the top so it can be picked up easily. this time i took my time making shure that all the connections where secure and i tested the sound to make shure it would play rite before i put the pipe on bc it is a bitch taking them off.

Re: Home made audio pipe rebuild...
Once i got it all together i taped it up and put two coats of rust oleum tan camo paint, then came back wit an aluminum guard and used it as a stensil and painted it green. now the whole pipe is 3' long and is less of a hassle to moove around. i didnt paint the inside of the pipe beacuse i want to brush it with black paint. Leave me a comment and tell me how i can improove it and how youy like it. thanks

Re: Home made audio pipe rebuild...
It blocks the sound a little but not enough to distort it. there is alot of room inside but i am gonna put two holes on each side and thread them to screw in two elbows later but its not bad enough and i dont think its necessairy. i think with it like that it will keep the speakers from busting but i may be wrong

Re: Home made audio pipe rebuild...
And this build only cost me the speakers. if someone where to build one it would be hard to get the pipe unless you work for the water company, elbows go for 40$ a piece i think if i would have payed for every thing it would be around 200$

Yea PVC starts gettin pricy once you start gettin to the bigger sizes. I built one out of 6" and I got the pieces for free. It's for my 4 wheeler. For my boat I'm goin to get two 6" wakeboard tower speakers and put on my polling platform. Bitch is gunna be sick and for like another $70 I could make it Bluetooth lol

Re: Home made audio pipe rebuild...
I've been making those pipe radio set ups for my four wheelers for years. I use 6" speakers, with amp. All wired inside only radio Jack wires plug iPod into amp. The set up will get hot cayenne its sealed cause its under water a lot on the racks. Figure on replacing about once a year due to amp will overheat.

Re: Home made audio pipe rebuild...
I didnt put an amp because i dont really think i need one and i think it would ad some weight to it. I mite update to 9" water proof speakers since it will fit inside that pipe.

I run hog tune amp from Harley shop. There water resistant aswell. Running off phone or iPod the amp really makes a difference

Re: Home made audio pipe rebuild...
You can get a 300w amp that's tiny and weighs close to nothing

Re: Home made audio pipe rebuild...
Like the paint effect, what did you use for a stencil? I've been thinking of doing something similiar on my Harley, but with a red, white and blue base, then using a net or onion bag and spraying satin black or gloss over it all.
