Re: Threaded prop stuck on shaft, how to remove???
I've seen some bring the motor up on the compression stroke with a 6" chunk of 3/8 rope stuffed into the sparkplug hole to lock the engine, then engage clutch to eliminate shaft rotation and use a prop wrench made out of flat stock to take the prop off before.

Re: Threaded prop stuck on shaft, how to remove???
It is on a 15' Lowe aluminum jonboat, on the heavy side. With that worn prop that was on it I'd get about 4000 rpm wide open. So, should I replace with a new 10x8 or an 11x10?

I'm late to the party since I see in your other thread you already got it loose. I had to duct tape a piece 2X4 to an 8lb sledge hammer and have the wife hold the shaft with a 12" crescent and a 4' cheater pipe while I beat the hell out of the old prop.

Re: Threaded prop stuck on shaft, how to remove???
I just seen your other post on the hunt for a prop. Personally I'd run a die nut down that thread first before getting a new prop, because if the threads are beyond repair you might as well go hex shaft. S/s threads are unforgiving

If you stick with threads, pull the prop off on a very frequent basis to keep fresh anti-seize on it. I have been doing mine on a "PM" basis with oil changes and the occasional "just because."
