 Honda 11hp gx390 mods
I have a 11hp Honda scavenger Longtail and looking to get a little more out of it. I didn't know where to exactly start or where to find the correct parts. Any suggestions on what I should do to boost my speed and hp??

 Re: Honda 11hp gx390 mods
I would head over to the go kart and golf kart forums there is a wealth of info on this motor. As far as a site I would check out nr racing and affordable go karts.

 Re: Honda 11hp gx390 mods
Most of the Kart racing sites have some parts that would work on your engine. Here are a couple examples: http://www.affordablegokarts.comhttp://www.arcracing.comWith that said, I used to borrow a friend's boat for hunting that had a 13 HP Scavenger. It had power with that auger prop but was the slowest setup I know of, especially in deep water. I don't think you can really get any speed out of it unless you changed the prop. The same friends later switched to an 13 hp Honda clone with a regular longtail prop on a regular longtail frame, which I suspect was a little overpropped (the frame originally had a bigger engine on it) and did not have the power in low water but was still much faster than the Scavenger. IF you could put a different prop on it AND you can find someone who knows what the perfect longtail prop is for a 13, you could probably double the speed without touching the motor.

Nr racing is awesome I have delt with those gentleman a few times. Also look into robertsons torque tubes exhaust they make some great custom headers for all applications

robertson makes some good exhaust no doubt. i had one on my 6.5 predator build and it performed great but it was just to loud for me. i ended up making a barrel style exhaust like the bigger motors use just scaled down. didnt notice any power loss and is much quieter.

Aside from those already mentioned, look at Vegas Carts. Geoff was a huge help with my 420cc build. You might also want to do the math because his 440cc motors get great reviews and are cheap once you start costing out upgrades to your motor.

Those motors but out some power. That would be a good little engine for a build.

 Re: Honda 11hp gx390 mods
as a prior scavenger owner, its a good cheap motor. but asking it to do any more than it does is out of the question. several issues with the motor would make it a non satisfying venture. the props are very tough but very inefficient. if you up the hp you may be able to turn one of thier larger props if they have one available. if so you may find the belts may slip. if so you would have to change the pullys, adding more belts.
they are what they are. cheap and tough but thats about it. if you spend the money to mod the 11hp you should see some gains but i dont beleave you will get what you want.

 Re: Honda 11hp gx390 mods
What shaft diameter is the 440? I might have to pull the 6.5 off and order one of those?

ENDER- Is this a LT or SD? What prop are you running?
KKRAUSE- how did you make out with the LT?
