 hammer props
Are these just mythical creatures or do they exist? I have read about them on the mud buddy forum but not seen them for sale. Do you have to put a deposit down and wait forever or can you you just buy one somewhere? Are they as good as they are claimed to be?

 Re: hammer props
You can buy them from most dealers. Boatdr has them in stock. I bought one to try at SETX in the mud and it did what they said....it digs hard in the mud. I lost some top end, but I gained grip in the soup. I'll put my big blade back on for this summer, but come duck season I'm going back with the hammer.

 Re: hammer props
I have a 1754 gator Trax with a 35 mud buddy, BUT, pvt has my heads now. When they are done I am picking up all the goodies to build one of their mag 45. Right this sec the boat spins the big blade 4100 in deep water.

 Re: hammer props
I dont recomend the hammer prop if you arent turning at least 4300 rpms, but you should be able to turn in the 4500 range once you add pistons, cam, and other internals.
Have fun building the motor up.

 Re: hammer props
Call Kevin. He usually has some laying around the shop. My PVT motor could turn a Hammer all day at 5k plus if I would let it. Kept it around 4600-4800 and could cruise at 29.8 in my F4 with 4 people and a cooler.

 Re: hammer props
So 45-4700 rpm. Once the motor is built, what do I need to do to archive the higher rpm? Pretty sure my motor is non cdi but I will know for sure when the flywheel comes off.

 Re: hammer props
I tried one on my GT and it made the motor vary doggy and took about 5 mph off the top speed. And I have a PVT cam MWO custom heads single Mikuni and marsh mellow muffler. Them Guys at MuddyWaters swear by them Hammer props but it did not work for me

I saw a Hammer prop today at the boat show on a sportv and it must be the casting because it looks like that.

 Re: hammer props
All you can change on a GT is the bottom gear. 48T or 45T. The kicker is, I believe you can only run a 48T gear in a 48T belt housing. It doesn't fit the old 45T housing...the top gear is the same, 38T is all you can get. And no. You cannot run a MB top gear on a GT.

And you can get a bigger pulley for the lower but it won't fit in the belt housing opening is my understanding.
