Re: Wha are surface drive shaft made from If your looking to get one made, call aluminum and stainless and get some 17-4 PH stainless boat shaft. Its straightened, polished and ground to boat shaft specs.

Re: Wha are surface drive shaft made from I always use 17-4 H1150 or 4140 turned ground and polished. 17-4 is a bit oversized for most bearings though.
