Post Getting a prop off
Anyone in the Baytown area that i could meet up with Friday afternoon that has a prop tool for a Go-Devil? Or does somebody have a good way to get a stuck prop off without a tool?

Find a box end wrench that will fit the shaft and hook the blade then put a cheeter pipe on and hope for the best.

I ground down an old shitty 10" crescent wrench so it fits ahead of the prop on my copperhead. then I duct tape a chunk of 2X4 on the head of a 10lb sledge hammer and go to town on it.

When all else fails. , you can always resort to this . A new prop was going on anyway .

I took a 5 foot 2x4 and a tow strap. Wound the strap around the blades of the prop and the 2x4 at the same time. Then spin the shaft with the wrench until the strap is nice and tight "on the board and the prop". Then dog the wrench off on something hard "I used a cement block" then give it hell.

I thought the PD was tough to get off. HAHA. By the way, it may or may not work on yours but a 3' crow bar works great on a PD. Loosen the nut and leave it on, rest the bar on the nut and the hook will "hook" around a blade and get with it. If the right tire of the trailer doesn't come off the ground, you're not putting enough ass behind it

Beating on it may not work for a prop that's stuck pretty good - there's too much twist in the shaft. I used a piece of flat bar and cut a hole in it to fit over the shaft as a makeshift prop tool and it still wouldn't budge until I used the flame wrench to heat up the prop.

I used a 48" pipe wrench sideways (jaw opening facing the prop nut) and a 24" on top to bind up my U joint and pulled like hell. I heard a badass pop and I busted my ass and thought I broke the shaft but it was just the prop breaking loose. Spun it off by hand after that. I take it off every few trips out now and lather it down with never seeze just to prevent that sorta thing

Worse come to worse take a cut off wheel and at the thinnest part of the hub. cut a grove down to the.shaft the same direction as the shaft. Then smack it. If you've done it right it will spin off.
These shaft threads get clogged up with mud and sand. With the new prop if you take it off atleast twice a year and clean and install antisieze they normally don't stick like this

Pick axe handle with a 7/8" hole
Cresent wrench on prop nut - maybe use an extension on the wrench (dom tube)

^^this. I used a 4' piece of 2x4 but the same concept. If you can't bust it loose with a 4-5' handle you are probably going to have to cut it. I have never had any luck beating on one with a hammer or anything else for that matter.
