Post go dev dies when tilted
i just bought a 16 go devil long tail it has 100 hrs on it. the guy i bought it from told me that it spits oil out of the dipstick tube if run for long periods at high rpm.... this turned out to be true so first things first i checked the oil. it was way over the max fill line so i drained it out till it was about mid way on the dipstick hash marks... when the engine is at operating temp and sitting level it runs great but when it is tilted (like to put prop in the water) it spits and sputters till it finally dies... any ideas?

Sounds like it still has too much oil. Also, try cleaning the plugs as they may be fouled.

Unplug the oil level sensor, I know a few people with a similar problem and that fixed it

There is also a mercury switch on those motors. Or at least there used to be. It wouldn't allow you to start the motor with the prop in the water. It may be faulty and shorting it out? The oil sensor should be on the starboard side of the motor near the back.

Make sure oil level is good, unplug low oil sensor, run motor if this fixes the problem leave it unplugged and run the piss out of it... If the problem persists leave it unplugged and look into the mercury switch...

Thanks for all the help... Just incase this problem ever comes up for someone again I am posting what I finally found to be wrong. Because the motor ran so smooth when level, I, like everyone else, started blaming a sensor but after exhausting every other idea I finally decided to go to the first place I should have looked.. The carb... It was full of trash causing the needle valve for the float to stick... Because of the shape of the intake manifold the extra fuel is able to pool up in the manifold when the engine is level, allowing the engine to run beautifully, but when tilted the fuel is dumped into the cylinders all at once, flooding the engine out. This also explained why the engine would die after running for 10 or so minutes because the intake would fill up until the fuel spilled over into the cylinders, boom, flooded. I cleaned the carb and the engine runs beautifully
