Post Two questions
I just recently bought a 08 29hp Kawasaki mud buddy hyperdrive. The person I bought it from believes its for a tall transom boat. 17-20" he said. How do I know for sure and what hull would you recommend for it?

Have you searched this particular motor lately? Apparently not. There's hardly any info on it or boat and motor combinations. Thanks but no thanks tough guy.

It's actually not the same big block. It's a 745cc with fuel injection. The frame is the same, yes, but without mods it wont run on the same hulls as well as the big block you claim it to be the same as.

To the OP: I have the 27 (non efi model, same block) on a 1748, open floor plan. It runs prety well. I would keep weight in mind when deciding the boat you want, and consider your needs (load carrying, space, importance of speed, etc). A 1648-1854 would prob be a good match, as long as you kept the hull light. It's not a 35, but with a gutted exhaust, and some decking on the heads (mine were done .036") my 27 runs 24 with a worn prop and hops up on plane pretty quick and runs shallow quite well. LAProp just put some cup back into my stock prop, but wont be able to run it until next week. I found a guy that had internals, cam, and rockers for it, but he hasnt gotten back with me to sell me some parts, so im running just heads and exhaust this season. If you have any questions on the engine, just let me know.

Thanks Russ. That's the help I was looking for.
Goosekiller, If it all were the same motor to motor and boat to boat why is there a whole page dedicated to reviews of different combinations. If that were true there would be nothing to discuss. Just get any year or size motor and put it on a "mud hull" and your good to go.
Way to welcome a new member to this forum btw. Get a fuckin life ya sorryass cyber bully.

Ksgoose: It's actually similar in dry weight to the 35. Really didn't figure the powerhead would be that heavy, but maybe that's why it holds up better. I dunno. Not sure overall weight differences, but prob nothing or it might weigh more since it's liquid cooled and needs the coolant.
