 FIRST POST!
Hello all, first post and its going to be a dues I'm sure...just looking for some ideas and feedback. I have a 12.5hp Briggs and Stratton on a long tail frame, I'm pretty sure its not a Go-Devil, i think its homemade. Its old and was given to me some years ago. Anyhow, I used it a bunch a few years in a row, then i had a mishap with a trailer that came unhooked from my truck and the boat and motor ended up flipped over in the ditch.. Discouraged, i parked it for a year and ended up just hunting out of my sneak boat all last year. I started working on it to get it running again this year, everything is running and tuned up on the motor, but the housing for the shaft has a minor bend in it. i don't think the shaft is bent, because when idling/running there are no shakes, wobbles, or any weird movement in the prop, shaft, or U joint. But it does get really hot fairly quick right at the spot the bend is. Im thinking i can just heat it up and straighten the housing out just a little and be fine? Is that too crazy of an idea? It just seems that it must just be getting a lot of friction in that one spot.
any tips or info would be great! thanks! josh

I don't want to get your hopes down butt. If you are making long runs I would not trust that shaft.

 Re: FIRST POST!
I'd heat it up and straighten then pull the shaft and change it just to be on the safe side 3/4" etd150 is very cheap and u can buy a 3/4-10 die and thread it your self just gotta have a key way cut and any machine sdhop will do that for cheap
