 New Q vs. MM
Ok so I realize most of this is personal preference but if I'm going to spend $500 I want to hear all sides from the experts. So with that being said what are some pros and cons? Also has anyone been running the new Q with the ceramic coating?, bc that could be a game changer since I run in saltwater quite a bit. Thanks in advance

I also like the Q with the ceramic coating, but haven't seen any reviews of it - yet.

 Re: New Q vs. MM
Not sure how they coat the exhaust,,,i feel ya pain with the salt water too...
I had mine ceracoated for that reason and it didnt hold up any better than high heat rustoleum! Waste of money if you ask me...Not that it was a huge amount but it didnt hold up much longer than 3-4 trips..
Good ole soak down with WD-40 so far has been doing fairly well keeping the rust to a minimum..

 Re: New Q vs. MM
Don't have the time, money, or know how to do the heads, that will be done by a paid professional lol. I just know that when the mods start getting put on an exhaust with better flow is necessary, and speaking that it takes four bolts and two gaskets to do this I should be ok, not to mentioned my stock one might not last the upcoming season. Sorry should have been more clear

 Re: New Q vs. MM
Yea ceracoat isnt meant to take those type of temps too...ceramic coating like they do for headers is the way to go buy expensive as hell to have that done

 Re: New Q vs. MM
MM = loud
Q = quiet
the Q is about 100 cheaper also. i have one with over 120hrs on it and no issues yet, but one day it will fail. they all do.

 Re: New Q vs. MM
I run the q exhaust. Like the tone and has done well. And you said 500$ for exhaust, but couldn't afford headwork. I just received my heads port, polish, .040" decked, with ss valves replaced for 500$ by a pro. Granted I tore it down and put it back together, just takes a little time and napa know how and you'd be whayyy better off with headwork than a shiney new exhaust that's going to rust anyway in the conditions you run in... Re: New Q vs. MM
If you're dead set on exhaust, the Q is probably the least durable exhaust you could blow your money on, IMO. Only ones I have been around have cracked to shit in no time. Plus the new ones for a horizontal motor have a gay looking hook dick outlet to accommodate the sport H. Don't waste money on a Q.
Oh, and this shit has been discussed at least 475,000 times on this forum. The search feature, contrary to popular belief, does work from time to time. Be really easy to find info these days with "the great exhaust wars of 2014" going down as we speak.
You oughta buy a Hopkins Hogg extreme, they've been through at least 23 hours of rigorous testing and development by now.

 Re: New Q vs. MM
I've been around a lot of Q mufflers with hundreds of hours on them, no problems with durability. The change to the curved exhaust pipe has advantages - directs the outlet/noise away from the driver, and helps prevent it from being such a rain gauge when in travel lock.
As for the ceramic coating, I would personally wait until they have been out a while. There was a time years ago when Jet-Hot ceramic coating was all the rage (you will have to do the Google search to find those posts though), but it really didn't hold up to the temps of the exhausts when under load and just flaked off. Not sure if there are different formulations now. I would wait to see one with over a 100hrs on it before going that route.
I did have a buddy in the coatings business and did a crossover with a process used for coating pipes used in chemical manufacturing. Have to check to see how it held up.
