 27hp pd prop question
Proper diameter for 27hp prodrive prop and What advantage is the 3 blade giving over the 2 blade? I am having extreme issues with hole shot and load carrying running 27pd on 1548 boat and while i get 25 with me and an empty boat add weight for a duck hunt and boat barely planes out if at all. motor runs fine Matt

 Re: 27hp pd prop question
You need a longer boat for planing out any real load with that 27

 Re: 27hp pd prop question
I am kind of dubious about the longer boat issue. I would imagine that the contact patch of a flat bottom boat on plane that is one foot or 2ft longer is not going to be any different than that of my 15ft boat. Is it a CG issue or something else entirely as the RPMS are affected by this whole issue.

 Re: 27hp pd prop question
Just out of curiosity what length of boat is suggested for a 27hp PD?

 Re: 27hp pd prop question
I'd go no less than 18'. Hell Crews used to run a 20' with a 27 and it would plane a hell of a load. And if your thinking a 18' is to long...your wrong. you can put a 18' boat anywhere you can put a 15' boat.

 Re: 27hp pd prop question
My only problem is the having to buy another boat that is something i dont want to do or can't right now. What about adding pods or customizing a hunt deck on the back of my boat lenghtening it by aobut 18 to maybe 20 inches?

 Re: 27hp pd prop question
i used to run a 27 on a 15x48 and had the same problem, then switched to a 17x48 and it made a HUGE difference.
