hey guys, I been wanting to put together a boat that I can hunt and fish out of (1748). I live in central fl. all the big name boats out there are super nice boats, but I don't feel I need one made out of 0.125/ 0 .188 material. since I don't jump stumps and heavily abuse a boat. I realize the transom would have to be made out of heavier material. Ive been a fabricator for a 18 years, and I was thinking .090 aluminum. (I have an 2005 31hp sport mudbuddy, thinking about upgrading to a 35hp. something newer). all thoughts are appreciated.

.90 won't hold up even if you ride in slick water. That big of an engine will put way to much torque on the hull and literally twist the sucker. If you have a 31 MB and want to go to a 35, at least go .125 all the way. Some have gone .100 gauge all the way with a GTR25 but to me, that's pushing it.

to me the weight of .125 vs .100 is not worth the speed or weight difference..go with the .125 all around and have a piece of mind that its gonna hold up..my .02
