Post PD Prop, Replace or not?
My prop on 2008 PD has not been replaced in two years and while the cup does not look as deep/ wide(looks worn), the prop measures tip to tip 12-3/8". RPMS WOT run normally 4200, but now is closer to 4000 and when loaded it was around 3700/3800. Also notice I have to have it trimmed higher than normal to throw a normal rooster tail. Empty it seems to run pretty good, but still not the RPMS I would expect at normal trim level.

WOT in neutral was 4250/4275 so RPMs out of water looks good.

What is confusing me is the tip to tip measurement looks good, but it acts like the prop needs replacement from past experience.

Time to replace the prop?

Thanks

Less prop = more rpms. Sounds like you have something else going on.

Thx...it certainly has the symptons of worn prop. Can the cup wear down without affecting tip to tip measurement? Thats my biggest question unless Im not measuring correctly.

It may be the prop....but i'm betting leaking valves. Might be time to have a leakdown test done.

check your throttle linkage. it may not be opening the govenor up enough under a load. over time they wear out and will make u chase your tail.
like the other guy said, a leakdown test will tell u what's going on with your valves and is easy to do.

Also check your boat for hooks
