Re: go devil long tail 25 help
I have a lot of play in the lower end of the shaft I ordered the seals and lower bearing it's a 99 so it's due. I'm having a hard time getting the shaft to move

Re: go devil long tail 25 help
Well after a week of no results I'm cutting the shaft off up by the yoke. I can't get the prop to move or get the shaft free

Re: go devil long tail 25 help
If the shaft will spin you should be able to pull it. Did you remove the collar above the bearing and free the shaft from the yoke? Put a piece of 2x4 against the prop and beat on it with a mini sledge.

Re: go devil long tail 25 help
You need a small pipe wrench, and a big one (36"+)... Use the small one to bind the shaft up or the bottom of the U joint so it will not move. Take the big one and open the jaws up so it fits over the prop with the jaw opening facing the prop. The jaws should rest on the back side of the blades. Take a mini torch and put some heat directly on the hub where the shaft threads thru, do not overheat the shaft. I had to bounce and hang on mine a time or two but it busted loose. I was on the verge of cutting the shaft myself. I'll tell you this. Hitting it with anything will get you absolutely nowhere. The shaft is meant to absorb impact while running. You're simulating exactly that lol. You need steady pressure on the prop. The two pipe wrench method worked well for me. Now I remove the prop once or twice a yr and drown the threads in never seeze every time and don't have a problem at all.

And when all else fails. , you can resort to this if your trashing the old prop.
