Re: I guess bag limits dont exist...
I think that's like a kind of sport shooting they do across the pond. I heard a buddy talking about it a few years back. Called it like a European something or other. I dont think they're exactly wild birds. ..I dunno. Not what I would consider a hunt but probably alotta fun.

Re: I guess bag limits dont exist...
that's shooting ducks not hunting ducks! I'd rather not but would try it maybe. I've stood in a field with 7 guys shooting dove like that.

50.00 each - 200 bird minimum fee for 6 to 8 shooters - as per their website....
$10,000.00 to shoot pen raised birds when they fly to the feeding pond....
There is a place like that over in Winnie, TX - not quite so pricey though....

Re: I guess bag limits dont exist...
I'd do it in a minute. Looks like a ton of fun. Keep in mind its not hunting, something totally different. They are not wild birds, so it's simply hunting... just challenging sport shooting.
I like doing European shoots with pen raised pheasants that are released from a tower. very similar.

i prefer to shoot decoying ducks feet down. thats what i feel is the fun part is watching them lock up and decoy and shooting them 2 foot over the water.

Re: I guess bag limits dont exist...
I've hunted pen raised quail in Georgia. The hunt master went out early the morning of the hunt and place 4 dozen quail all over this wooded area. You literally had to step on the birds to make them fly. Mostly, they'd run or fly up in a tree. It was fun, though. I call it sport shooting.

You guys obviously haven't hunted the north flats of Henderson or the school board property if you think that's impressive.

Re: I guess bag limits dont exist...
This kind of hunting happens all over the place. They are pen raised birds and they feed them and starve them for water. So thoes birds will try and get in no matter what. Most of us don't know about it because most of the places that do this cost so much. They are the 100,000 duck clubs. Each to there own.

Re: I guess bag limits dont exist...
Was just told by a co-worker that there is a place around Hammond that has hunts like this. Mostly Mallards are raised. They let the ducks go to the lake daily and pen raise them. Then when a hunt is booked, they take your ducks out of the group and pen them up keeping them from getting water. Once they are let loose, they head straight for the water hole and if you miss, they just keep flying around trying to get in the lake.

Re: I guess bag limits dont exist...
I've been thinking about buying some mallards to set loose in the beaver pond behind my house.
I think itd be neat to have a little hole you could get some green in when things are slow.

Hell I might get into this business, just on more of a country boy level.
I think it'd do pretty good around here.

Re: I guess bag limits dont exist...
Ethics of shooting pen released ducks aside. They are shooting lead and pulling off some amazing shots.
