Finished up the season with buck #2
So I found this spot a month ago and hung a camera. Got 2 pics. Both were of nice bucks. Never went back until this morning. It bordered a swamp and a hardwood ridge ran perpendicular to the swamp and up between 2 hay fields. I climbed up pretty high this morning and the north/nw wind was right where it needed to be. I honestly didn't think I was gonna have a whole lot of luck with the moon, but it's this weekend and next for me until time to do the duck thing. About 8:00 a yearling doe ran right under me acting crazy. Then a doe followed her grunting a little bit. I figured it was time to stand up. Well, they were acting pretty spooky and then they trotted off. Almost immediately after they left I heard some deep grunts from the swamp and a doe coming from my right. I could see the buck but couldn't tell much about him. As soon as I saw his head I clipped to the loop and got ready. He ended up stopping to look around about 20 yds from me and I sent a snyper through the back of his shoulder blades. That's when the shakes hit. But he left out without much front end and piled up just out of sight. He's got good mass and his brows are both bladed and gnarly with stickers. Biggest body deer I've ever shot in Ga.
