i have a 35 mudbuddy i put the 42mm mikuni gutted the stock exhaust and just sent my heads off to the boat doctor to get worked. now my question is wouldnt that make it a 4400 witch comes with the 48 tooth lower gear should i change mine or leave it a 50 tooth

Run it with a hunt load.....See where you are....
I ran a 35 with heads carb, exhaust on a 1854 with a 50 tooth bottom and liked the bottom end and load carrying. You may like the lower gear

Agree with Barrol.....run it first to see where your at with your most common loading. Then gear it accordingly to get in your target rpm range.
