 Dave Donaldson WMA
A few of us from Georgia are going to hunt Dave Donaldson/Black River WMA in Arkansas next week. I was wondering if anyone on here that has been or hunted it has any advice or pointers. Im not looking for someone to tell me where the birds are or do my homework at all. I enjoy scouting myself and find it rewarding, but know each place has there do' and dont's amongst local hunters. I just don't wanna step on anybodys toes or ruin someone elses hunt there is way too much of that nowadays with waterfowl hunting. Thanks in advance yall.

 Re: Dave Donaldson WMA
Hunted big lake the first week in December and did decently. We met up with some guys from Georgia and hunted with them and they spoke about Black River and said it was pretty close. We were going to try if we weren't having any luck.

I'll be up there this time next year. We didn't kill a ton of birds but we did better than all the local boys.

 Re: Dave Donaldson WMA
finally a couple of birds! There are tons up here but they're call shy and hard to work just gotta be where they wanna be I guess. Haven't shot anywhere close to a limit but I've worked my ass off for these here! My advice to others is the black river seems hard to hunt late in the season.

looks pretty darn good to me - you cannot kill 'em from the couch or work or school or the b***k lives matter parade.

 Re: Dave Donaldson WMA
I hunted dave donaldson dec 18-21, I cant say it was worth the drive. We did horrible. Birds everywhere but they are very call shy. I hunted with some local boys who know the area very well. There were atleast 200 thousand ducks on Lake Ashbaugh so there are no shortage of birds in the surrounding area. Good luck and I would avoid that place on weekends.

 Re: Dave Donaldson WMA
Arkansas in General has changed a ton over the years. To damn much pressure on the birds. I'm not even sure where all the people come from?! We used to have a couple walk in spots on bayou meto. We would hunt those on the weekends when everybody wanted to blow down the boat roads like a moto cross race. We'd come in about 5:00-5:30 and park up from the launch. Float our shit in and have at em! Used to park away from where we'd walk in so people didn't know where we were going. Assholes heard the shooting and hid in the bushes and fuckin watched and followed us in! That spot got blown out too! Cache river can be good at times but with the water low, it concentrates the ducks and the hunters.

 Re: Dave Donaldson WMA
Was wondering if any of you guys had any tips on Dave Donaldson? We usually hunt in crockets bluff but decided to change it up a little this year. Not looking to Internet scout just wondering for a few helpful tips to not piss people off.
